Safety and people goal

We aspire to the highest standards for people and will continue to raise these standards in line with our goal of zero harm. We also have a target to increase the share of women in managerial positions.

Progress during the last year

Safety is a top priority and we have a vision of zero harm. Our Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR)* was 3.0 2024 and we undertook several initiatives, such as safety campaigns, to make improvements in this area.

We continued to have diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) high on the agenda and maintained initiatives such as a group-wide DE&I training and various skills development programs.

Sandvik was once again part of the green list in the non-profit foundation Allbright’s assessment of gender distribution at the board and executive management team level in Swedish companies.

Reduction of TRIFR

Our target is to reduce the Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) to 1.6 by 2030, representing a 50 percent reduction from the 2019 baseline. For 2025, our goal is a Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate at 2.7, and in 2024 it amounted to 3.0. Compared to the 2019 baseline it has decreased by 6 percent. Acquisitions continue to negatively impact both TRIFR and LTIFR trends.

The table and graph show the development of TRIFR for 2016–2024.

TRIFR (Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate)
2020 2021 2022 2023 2024
2.6 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.0

The target is adjusted for structural changes.
