About the Opportunity
Sandvik Mining is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Workshop Manager to lead our Mackay Mechanical Cutting Aftermarket operation.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operational management, safety performance, people leadership and financial outcomes of the Mackay branch. This includes oversight of workshop operations, field service activities and technical support, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with customer, quality and budget expectations.
You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, strengthening customer partnerships and supporting sustainable aftermarket growth in alignment with Sandvik’s Sales Area and divisional objectives.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop branch employees in line with the Sandvik Way and Leadership Model
Drive engagement, capability development, succession planning and continuous improvement
Set clear performance expectations and ensure accountability across the branch
Lead and execute Aftermarket strategies to drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability
Partner with Sales teams to align customer strategies, incorporate feedback and support solution delivery
Build and maintain strong customer relationships, managing operational and technical issues collaboratively
Deliver accurate financial reporting across revenue, labour utilisation, cost control and forecasting
Monitor performance against KPIs and proactively address deviations from budget or plan
Support warranty compliance and contribute to robust business cases for major projects
Partner with Technical Managers to plan and deliver technical training
Maintain accountability for technical competence across the Mechanical Cutting Aftermarket team
Support apprentice development and structured technical training programs
About You
You are a confident and results‑driven leader with a strong background in service operations and people management. You bring a practical, customer‑focused mindset with the ability to balance safety, operational excellence and commercial outcomes.
You will ideally have:
A trade qualification or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline
Leadership and management qualifications
Proven experience leading service operations and multi‑disciplinary teams
Strong financial, planning and operational management capability
A customer‑centric approach with excellent communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Project
Experience in mining, heavy industry or industrial service environments
Experience with ERP and scheduling systems such as Maximo, along with commercial contract awareness, will be highly regarded.
