Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Maintenance Technician UG based in Balikpapan or Project Area UG.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete all required documentation, including work orders and timesheets, for accurate tracking and future reference.

  • Ensure full compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on hoses, tubing, piping, and fittings by identifying deficiencies such as chafing, bubbling, wear, or leaks.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent system contamination and ensure operational reliability.

  • Utilize technical documentation and reference materials, and accurately record all activities performed on each piece of equipment for traceability and future reference.

  • Prepare Job Action Plans (JAP) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) as required prior to task execution.

  • Select and apply appropriate fluid types and lubricant grades in accordance with manufacturer specifications and system fluid capacity.

  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding assigned tasks and discuss the outcomes of risk assessments prior to execution.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair underground heavy mobile equipment electrical systems, including but not limited to basic electrical systems, PLC systems, remote control systems, and rig control systems.

  • Ensure the safe operation of underground mobile equipment by performing scheduled preventive maintenance and promptly troubleshooting and rectifying equipment malfunctions.

  • Carry out skilled maintenance activities independently in the repair of underground heavy mobile equipment and associated auxiliary equipment.

  • Diagnose and perform electrical repairs on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment in accordance with technical standards and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Assist Mechanics in the repair and maintenance of light and heavy equipment, as well as other auxiliary systems, as required.

  • Provide recommendations to prevent recurring equipment failures and improve overall equipment reliability and performance.

  • Perform tool control and housekeeping duties, taking accountability for issued tools and toolroom equipment to ensure they are clean, safe, complete, and properly stored.

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in work areas and workshop facilities.

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER BUSINESS LINE

  • As the matrix organization you will be collaborating with many people within Sandvik in both global and SEA regions, including Business Line Managers and factories in Tampere and Alachua.

  • Direct report to Site Supervisor or Site Leader and indirectly to Service Manager.

  • Regularly review EHS performance metrics and lead improvement initiatives based on trends, audits, and incidents.

  • Ensure effective communication of EHS priorities and expectations to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate exemplary EHS behavior and ensure the organization complies with Sandvik global EHS Policy, ISO 14001/45001, and SMKP requirements.

  • Empower all employees to stop and report any work that appears unsafe or could cause harm, without fear of retaliation.

PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY

  • Field - Any environment (Location Customer Sites / Workshops).

  • Willing to travel globally within Sandvik area and/or from site to site within country of Indonesia.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over 5 years of experience in maintenance, ideally in the underground mining or heavy equipment industry.

  • Proven track record in maintaining and troubleshooting Sandvik or similar OEM mining equipment (e.g., loaders, drill rigs, underground trucks).

  • Have advanced skill and knowledge for hydraulic and electric system.

  • Intermediate English proficiency (CEFR Level B1).

  • With a valid driver’s license and/or mobile equipment operation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.

  • Able to read and write English at an acceptable standard.

  • High level of enthusiasm for work with high-performance goals for self and team.

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to live and work in Indonesia.
