Continuous Improvement Engineer

The Load & Haul Division, the home of Sandvik loaders and trucks for underground mining business. Here we are safer, stronger, and smarter, as we like to say it. We work in close co-operation with the sales areas within the Sandvik Mining Business Area, to provide the best possible service for our customers. Load & Haul home based in Turku, Finland. Additionally, we have operations in Camarillo, USA | Changzhou, China | Khomanani, South Africa as well in Seremban, Malaysia.

The Continuous Improvement Engineer drives operational excellence by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing process improvements across production operations. The role is accountable for improving productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost performance through the application of lean manufacturing principles, data analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Working closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams, this position optimizes assembly processes, streamlines material flow, and enhances overall manufacturing performance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across assembly production lines, logistics operations and others.
  • Analyse current manufacturing and material flow processes to identify opportunities for productivity improvement and waste reduction.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, 5S, and standard work to improve operational efficiency.
  • Improve assembly performance, including line balancing, cycle time optimization, bottleneck elimination, and takt time alignment.
  • Drive improvements in internal logistics processes, including warehouse operations, material flow, kitting, line feeding, and inventory movement.
  • Implement solutions to optimize factory layout, workstation design, and material handling systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and DMAIC.
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance indicators such as safety, quality, productivity, cycle time, and logistics efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, supply chain, and quality to implement improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate improvement workshops and support teams in adopting lean culture and continuous improvement practices.
  • Support new product introduction and process changes with a focus on efficient assembly and material flow.
