Supplier Quality Engineer

SMRT(i)PL, we have SRP as a business area, which is a leading supplier in equipment, services, support and technical solutions for construction and mining industry and specialist in Crushing, Screening, Mobile plants, and attachments

We are looking for a dynamic and an energetic Supplier Quality Engineer for SRP. This role reports to the Supplier Quality Excellence Manager. This position will be based in Pune.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective execution of supplier development activities through technical review, process study, and manufacturing feasibility assessment during the product development phase
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier manufacturing capabilities and quality systems, particularly in processes such as fabrication, machining, and casting
  • Ensure robust process readiness and product quality by defining Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) and Quality Control Plans aligned with design and process requirements
  • Achieve defined performance targets by enhancing supplier capability, process stability, and overall development effectiveness
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, Sourcing, SQE, and suppliers) to enable seamless new product development and industrialization
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external policies, regulations, and supplier compliance with company EHS and Supplier Code of Conduct
  • Conduct technical review of drawings, specifications, and supplier capabilities during development phase
  • Perform detailed process study and feasibility analysis for manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, casting, and allied processes
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capability, process flow, tooling readiness, and infrastructure for new part development
  • Prepare and define Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and Quality Control Plan based on product and process requirements
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external policies, regulations, and supplier compliance with company EHS and Supplier Code of Conduct
  • Conduct technical review of drawings, specifications, and supplier capabilities during development phase
  • Perform detailed process study and feasibility analysis for manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, casting, and allied processes
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capability, process flow, tooling readiness, and infrastructure for new part development
  • Prepare and define Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and Quality Control Plan based on product and process requirements
  • Ensure product conformity, perceived quality, and full traceability throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Develop suppliers' capability in core quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, and process standardization
  • Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and process qualification in line with supplier quality core processes and project strategy
  • Drive supplier development through training and implementation of defined manufacturing and quality standards
  • Define inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and control strategies aligned with process capability
  • Lead development of measurement, checking, testing fixtures, and gauges for product validation
  • Monitor supplier manufacturing readiness and support industrialization of new components
  • Manage supplier performance including improvement plans for low-performing suppliers and continuous capability enhancement
  • Initiate, track, and close corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for deviations identified during development and trials
  • Provide technical recommendations and decisions to ensure robust and defect-free manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Sourcing, SQE, PDC) to support NPI/NPD, localization, and cost optimization projects
  • Support sourcing strategy and build long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication across suppliers, RSO, PAs, and internal stakeholders
  • Manage compliance with global and local supplier quality requirements and contracts
  • Work according to defined processes using ERP, SPD, and other company systems, ensuring data accuracy and reporting
  • Provide budgetary inputs related to manpower, equipment, and supplier development activities
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding processes (MIG, TIG, SAW, FCAW) and welding drawings/symbols as per ISO 2553
  • Expertise in welding standards and qualifications including WPS/WPQR (EN ISO 15614 / ASME Section IX), Welder Qualification (EN ISO 9606 / AS 1796), and ISO 3834 requirements
  • Practical understanding of welding metallurgy, distortion control, and weld defects with acceptance criteria
  • Hands-on knowledge of NDT methods such as MPI and UT as per ISO 17638 and ISO 17640, with awareness of ASME Section V / Australian standards
  • Strong understanding of machining processes (CNC turning, milling, drilling, grinding) and standards such as ISO 2768, ISO 286, and GD&T (ISO 1101 / ASME Y14.5)
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes (hardening, tempering, carburizing, nitriding) and relevant standards such as ISO 15787 and ASTM/AMS specifications
  • Knowledge of casting processes (sand, investment, die casting) with standards such as ISO 8062 and ASTM A216/A536
  • Exposure to rubber processes (rubber molding, pasting, cutting) with standards such as ISO 3302 and ASTM D2000 considered an added advantage
    • Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering.

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience,
  • Ability to lead negotiations on commercial T&C’s
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet demanding deadlines
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
