The Role

The Service Technician will carry out general mechanical and electrical duties including maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis work on Sandvik Mining and Construction heavy-duty trackless equipment whilst maintaining availability and minimizing cost.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance as directed, ensuring equipment integrity and the safe operation of all equipment.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by participating in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), engineering standards, facility standards, and safe work practices.
  • Perform repairs and fault-finding using hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Provide relevant feedback to support maintenance planning, improve efficiency, and ensure equipment integrity.
  • Work towards achieving set KPIs.
  • Conduct technical equipment audits and prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Carry out equipment commissioning and complete all related documentation.
  • Execute all tasks within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Adhere strictly to all Sandvik policies and procedures, particularly SHEQ policies.

Qualification

  • A Bachelors Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a recognised trade qualification, with proven experience in heavy-duty trackless equipment

  • Knowledge of Sandvik underground drills, trucks, and loaders is an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of air-conditioning repairs and fault-finding is an advantage.o
  • Good CAN (Controller Area Network) knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work underground.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license, preferably Class C.
