The Role
The Service Technician will carry out general mechanical and electrical duties including maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis work on Sandvik Mining and Construction heavy-duty trackless equipment whilst maintaining availability and minimizing cost.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance as directed, ensuring equipment integrity and the safe operation of all equipment.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by participating in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), engineering standards, facility standards, and safe work practices.
- Perform repairs and fault-finding using hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Provide relevant feedback to support maintenance planning, improve efficiency, and ensure equipment integrity.
- Work towards achieving set KPIs.
- Conduct technical equipment audits and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Carry out equipment commissioning and complete all related documentation.
- Execute all tasks within approved budgets and timelines.
- Adhere strictly to all Sandvik policies and procedures, particularly SHEQ policies.
Qualification
A Bachelors Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a recognised trade qualification, with proven experience in heavy-duty trackless equipment
- Knowledge of Sandvik underground drills, trucks, and loaders is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of air-conditioning repairs and fault-finding is an advantage.o
- Good CAN (Controller Area Network) knowledge.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to work underground.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license, preferably Class C.
