WORKSHOP MANAGER (Lubumbashi)

Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area and a leading supplier of equipment, tools, services, and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and expertise across a wide range of applications, including rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling, and quarrying.

Job Purpose

Lead and manage all rebuild workshop operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable refurbishment, overhaul, and remanufacturing of Sandvik equipment and components. The role is accountable for workshop performance, quality standards, customer satisfaction, people leadership, and continuous improvement while promoting Sandvik's Zero Harm culture.

Your mission

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

  • Promote and maintain a strong Zero Harm safety culture throughout the workshop.

  • Ensure compliance with all Sandvik EHS policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions.

  • Drive continuous improvement in workshop safety, housekeeping, and quality systems.

Workshop Operations Management

  • Manage daily rebuild workshop activities including machine rebuilds, component overhauls, inspections, testing, and commissioning.

  • Ensure workshop schedules are achieved according to delivery commitments and customer expectations.

  • Optimise workshop productivity, resource utilisation, and turnaround times.

  • Monitor workshop KPIs including safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, warranty performance, and profitability.

  • Ensure all work is completed according to OEM specifications and Sandvik quality standards.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop workshop supervisors, planners, technicians, and apprentices.

  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.

  • Conduct performance reviews and competency development activities.

  • Support succession planning and technical capability development within the workshop.

Customer & Commercial Management

  • Build strong relationships with customers and act as a trusted technical partner.

  • Ensure customer expectations regarding quality, cost, and delivery are consistently achieved.

  • Support quotations, scope reviews, rebuild proposals, and lifecycle solutions.

  • Identify opportunities to grow rebuild and component exchange business.

Financial & Asset Management

  • Manage workshop budgets, labour efficiency, inventory utilisation, and cost control.

  • Review rebuild costing, workshop profitability, and financial performance.

  • Ensure efficient utilisation of workshop equipment, tools, and facilities.

  • Support forecasting and operational planning activities.

Technical Excellence

  • Provide technical leadership for rebuild and remanufacturing activities.

  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues.

  • Ensure technical standards, rebuild processes, and quality documentation are maintained.

  • Drive implementation of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Your profile

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager with a strong background in mining equipment rebuilds and remanufacturing operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled technicians, drive operational excellence, ensure world-class safety standards, and deliver high-quality rebuild solutions that maximise customer equipment reliability and lifecycle performance.
