Systems Engineer / Järjestelmäinsinööri – Autonomous Mining Systems

Business Unit Automation is the home of AutoMine® - the world leading solution for autonomous mining. We are a global organization and develop fully automated and robotic mining technologies for mobile machinery with an aim to revolutionize the underground and surface mining industry.

We are now looking for an innovative and committed professional for our team. The position is based in Tampere, Finland at our home office in Tulli Business Park located in the city center.

Your role will concentrate on systems engineering level duties, designing the automation systems and integrations for vehicle control systems and other intelligent systems. You will handle system-level design and manage interfaces across all subsystems, collaborating with technical leads for machine control, guidance and navigation, control room, and safety systems. You will also interact with our product managers to gather customer needs and determine product requirements. The target products are our heavy-duty mobile machinery working in harsh mining environments. You will report to the AutoMine® Product Development Manager.

Your background and key competencies

  • Knowledge and experience of systems engineering practices, practical experience with MBSE and/or use of AI in system design is considered a plus
  • Understanding of guidance, navigation and control engineering, with a strong background in at least one of these systems
  • System-level experience collaborating with subsystem lead engineers

Your profile

You have a relevant technical degree (e.g. Master of Science in Engineering) and prior experience in a comparable environment. Experience in systems or automation engineering in an international business environment is valued. Previous experience in the mining industry is not required.

You can define, design, and document your ideas and work independently with a systematic and structured approach. You have strong written and spoken English skills, as English is the daily working language of the team. You communicate easily and collaborate well with new people, and you enjoy a variety of tasks. This role does not involve regular travel, but occasional customer visits may be required.
