QUALITY INSPECTOR

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quality Inspector ensures products and materials meet quality standards and customer requirements by conducting inspections, testing, and documenting results. This role identifies quality issues, supports corrective actions, and works with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality and compliance
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Inspection & Testing
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of products and materials.
- Conduct dimensional, visual, mechanical, and functional testing according to specifications.
- Verify product conformity against engineering drawings, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Identify, document, and report defects, nonconformances, and quality concerns.
Laboratory Operations
- Prepare samples for testing and analysis.
- Operate laboratory equipment safely and accurately.
- Monitor testing procedures to ensure compliance with established methods and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of laboratory work areas.
- Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
Documentation & Record Management
- Accurately record inspection and test results in quality management systems.
- Prepare inspection reports, certificates of compliance, and quality documentation.
- Maintain traceability records for materials, products, and testing activities.
- Review quality documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Support audits by providing required records and documentation.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze inspection data and identify quality trends or recurring issues.
- Recommend improvements to inspection methods, testing procedures, and product quality.
- Support root cause analyses for nonconforming products.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality concerns.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality projects.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate inspection results and quality concerns to supervisors and production personnel.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and customer service teams.
- Provide guidance on quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Escalate critical quality issues that could impact safety, compliance, or customer satisfaction.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of inspection and laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate equipment calibration and validation activities.
- Report equipment malfunctions and arrange repairs as needed.
- Maintain calibration records and equipment logs.
QUALITY, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE:
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with company quality policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Follow established inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality control plans.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
- Assist in investigations regarding customer complaints and quality issues.
Safety & Environmental Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and laboratory practices.
- Properly handle and dispose of test materials and chemicals when applicable.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure compliance with the ISO standards, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety).
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the shop/assigned area.
- Adhere to all company rules and safety policies.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-3 years’ experience working in a mechanical or industrial environment preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong commitment to quality and safety standards.
- May perform other duties as required.
- Shift: Work Hours: 2nd (3:00PM to 11:15PM)
- This position requires current authorization to work in the United States. Sandvik cannot provide employment-based visa sponsorship for this role, now or in the future. This role is based on site in Westminster, SC. Remote or international work arrangements are not available.
