The Role
The purpose of this role is to maintain and extend the life of Surface Down the Hole Rock Tools according to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and standards to ensure an effective performance of the equipment on contracts through:
Machine availability
Effective customer relations
Safety, health, and environmental effectiveness
Product life and Rate of Penetration performance
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct drill rig evaluation to determine if drilling parameters (i.e. rotation, feed and air pressure) are aligned as required and alert the machine operator to adjust the parameters accordingly when necessary.
Inspect and test DTH Rock Tools as per OEM standards and specifications
Identify faults on the DTH Rock Tools and report them accordingly.
Perform scheduled maintenance on the DTH hammers and bits to extend equipment life
Analyse all Sandvik Rock Tools removed from the machines to determine the cause of failure.
Complete a failure analysis report for every Rock Tool product discarded.
Complete performance reports for all rock tool products.
Conduct regular scrap analysis and ad hoc investigations to determine the reason/s for premature product failure.
Maintain site based consignment stock room levels and management thereof accordingly.
Ensure mining safety standard and safe working procedures are met.
Your profile:
Namibian Citizen
Grade 12/Equivalent
N3 qualification (advantageous)
GET Level 1 & 2 certificate of competence (advantageous)
2-3 years experience in a mining industry (advantageous)
English proficiency
Valid code B driver’s license with a minimum of two years of driving experience.
Physical and medical ability to function in a mining environment
Based in Swakopmund
