Job Purpose:

The CAD Software Development Manager is responsible for leading and developing the CAD software development team within the Cimatron Business Unit. The role ensures the successful delivery of high-quality CAD software solutions, supporting Cimatron’s strategic product roadmap while driving development excellence, team development, innovation, and operational execution.

The position combines strong people management, technical understanding of CAD software development, agile delivery management, and cross-functional collaboration. The CAD Software Development Manager fosters a high-performance culture focused on quality, innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee growth while supporting the modernization and evolution of Cimatron's CAD platform.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Software Development Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead the execution and delivery of CAD software development initiatives aligned with the product roadmap.
  • Ensure committed deliverables are delivered on time, within scope, and with the expected level of quality.
  • Drive predictability and transparency through effective planning, estimation, risk management, and progress reporting.
  • Partner with Product Owners and Product Management to clarify priorities and align development activities with business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex CAD development topics, ensuring appropriate ownership, prioritization, and delivery follow-up across the team.
  • Provide technical support for complex customer or field-reported CAD issues, including coordinating investigation, reproducing geometric problems, supporting defect analysis, and guiding resolution.
  • Support API-related discussions with internal teams and, when required, third-party or integration stakeholders.
  • Guide the team in resolving complex CAD engineering challenges related to geometric modeling, CAD infrastructure, API development, data exchange, and performance-critical areas.
  • Manage and drive technical initiatives end-to-end, including planning, tracking, coordination, delivery follow-up, and communication of risks and dependencies.

CAD Product Development

  • Lead and take part, if required, in the development of advanced CAD functionalities supporting mold design, tooling design, electrode design, assemblies, automation, and associated workflows.
  • Support the design, development, and continuous improvement of core CAD geometric modeling components, CAD infrastructure components, and CAD API capabilities.
  • Contribute to development activities related to B-Rep data structures, local topology operations such as Booleans, blends, tweak/local operations, and geometry healing algorithms, where relevant to the product roadmap.
  • Support the modernization of the CAD application and API layer, including the progressive migration of business logic toward a clean, maintainable, and framework-independent service layer.
  • Ensure software solutions address customer requirements, performance expectations, and usability standards.
  • Contribute to long-term platform evolution and modernization initiatives.
  • Support integration between CAD, CAM, automation, AI, and emerging technology initiatives where applicable.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, customer needs, and competitive developments in CAD/CAM and manufacturing software.

Team leadership and people management

  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a highly engaged software engineering team.
  • Conduct performance and development discussions, career planning, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and talent development activities.
  • Develop technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
  • Ensure and create actions to foster knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.

Software Development Excellence

  • Promote a quality-first mindset across development teams.
  • Partner closely with QA teams to improve product quality and release confidence.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for critical defects and production issues.
  • Guide the diagnosis and resolution of complex geometric failures, including issues related to modeling robustness, tessellation, visualization, and computational performance.
  • Support continuous improvement of the CAD document model, save/load persistence, backward compatibility, and data integrity across product versions.
  • Encourage research, prototyping, and validation of new geometric algorithms where they support product quality, performance, or roadmap objectives.
  • Support release planning, stabilization activities, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Promote software development best practices across architecture, coding, testing, security, maintainability, and documentation.
  • Champion modern development methodologies including Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, automation, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to development standards, coding guidelines, and architectural principles.
  • Support technical decision-making and architecture reviews in partnership with architects and senior technical leaders.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

  • 7-10+ years of experience in software development.
  • 2-3+ years of people management experience leading software development teams.
  • Experience delivering complex commercial software products.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments.
  • Experience in CAD, CAD/CAM, PLM, CAE, manufacturing software, geometric modeling, or similar engineering software environments is strongly preferred.

Technical skills and knowledge

  • Strong understanding of CAD technologies, geometry kernels, modeling concepts, data structures, and design workflows.
  • Knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented design, and enterprise software development.
  • Computational geometry understanding
  • Familiarity with cloud-connected engineering software ecosystems and AI-assisted development practices
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and development best practices.
  • Understanding of software quality and release management practices.
