About the Opportunity

The Financial Control Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong governance and effective internal controls across multiple legal entities. The position provides strategic financial advice to senior leaders, oversees statutory and sustainability reporting obligations, leads treasury management activities, coordinates external and internal audits, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across financial accounting and reporting processes.

This role offers the opportunity to influence business performance, support strategic decision-making, and lead a high-performing team within a complex, multinational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Finance and Treasury teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, annual and statutory financial reporting across Australia, New Zealand and PNG.
  • Oversee financial accounting processes, governance frameworks and internal controls to ensure compliance with Sandvik policies and accounting standards.
  • Lead treasury management activities, including foreign exchange risk management, banking relationships and fraud prevention initiatives.
  • Prepare statutory financial and sustainability reports in accordance with relevant accounting and reporting standards.
  • Coordinate external audits, internal audits, hard-close processes and early-warning reporting activities.
  • Provide specialist accounting advice to senior stakeholders, including revenue recognition, impairment testing and emerging sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Support integration activities for newly acquired businesses and contribute to future ERP implementation and enhancement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business and functional leaders to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive process improvement, risk mitigation and governance excellence across the organisation.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership and qualification such as CPA or CA.
  • Significant experience in a senior finance leadership or financial control role.
  • Strong experience managing statutory reporting, treasury, audit and corporate governance responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams within large, complex organisations.
  • Experience providing financial and commercial advice to executive leadership teams and Boards.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, financial reporting frameworks and internal control environments.
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills, with strong proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and influencing capabilities.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a fast-paced environment.
