Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. To our Rock Tools division and the Plant Engineering Maintenance at Pune, we are now looking for an Engineer- Electrical Maintenance to join us.

Job Purpose:

The role is responsible for managing electro-mechanical maintenance activities in three shifts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electro-mechanical engineering, experience in a similar role, and a passion for learning and performing.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are:

  • Ensure compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and promote safe work practices across the workplace.
  • Support EHS initiatives and actively contribute to the development of a strong safety culture within the organization.
  • Implement and maintain QEHSSA (Quality, Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Asset Management) systems in the work environment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and efficiently troubleshoot and rectify electrical, electronic, mechanical, and control system issues in CNC machines (Fanuc, mazatrol, DMG, Okuma, Siemens), conventional machines, PLC-controlled systems, SCADA systems, utility equipment, and material handling equipment, while prioritizing workplace safety.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major machine failures and implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Create, manage, and close maintenance notifications and work orders in SAP S/4HANA; maintain accurate records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance, service activities, and miscellaneous jobs. Ensure effective shift communication through detailed maintenance logbook updates.
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities for critical equipment to achieve maximum uptime and minimize breakdowns. Regularly update preventive maintenance records, schedules, equipment task lists, and checklists in SAP.
  • Identify, plan, and manage critical spare parts requirements to ensure machine reliability and operational continuity.
  • Maintain accurate spare parts inventory in SAP EWM, including stock transactions, quality inspections of received spares, and inventory control activities.
  • Drive automation initiatives to improve equipment performance and enhance production processes.
  • Achieve departmental KPIs and performance targets established annually.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) for electrical, electronic, and mechanical maintenance activities related to machine tools and production equipment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs), technical services, spare parts procurement, and IMTE calibration activities.
  • Train and mentor colleagues and contract employees on technical competencies, maintenance best practices, and safety requirements.
  • Support vendor development programs and localization initiatives aimed at indigenizing critical spare parts.
  • Assist in monitoring and controlling Repair & Maintenance (R&M) costs while maintaining operational efficiency.

Your profile:

We are looking for qualified graduate or diploma in electrical and electronics engineer having minimum 8 years of experience working on similar job responsibilities. Candidate should be passion to learn quickly and perform. Worked with a strong EHS cultured organization is a distinct advantage and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.

Other required competencies that we find necessary are:

  • Strong technical knowledge of CNC machines in terms of controls, drives, and positional feedback, instrumentation, PLC, IOT, COBOT, Gantry, Robot, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Spindle & turret, Chuck, gearbox assembly
  • Sound knowledge in reading machines drawings electrical / electronic / hydraulic / pneumatic circuits and ladder diagram
  • Should know maintenance techniques, problem solving techniques and spare parts management.
  • Good communication skills and time management
  • Good skill in MS office.
  • Quick learner and analytical skills
  • Good in verbal and written communication.
