Engineered-to-Order (ETO) Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for an Engineered-to-Order (ETO) Mechanical Engineer to support customer-specific design work and engineering activities within our Sandvik Rock Processing, Screening Division business. In this role, you’ll be part of our engineer team contributing to the order engineering of screening and feeding machinery based on defined customer and application requirements.

Position Location and Flexibility:

This position is available within the EMEA region. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of one of our main hubs: Lahti, Finland; Darmstadt, Germany; or Johannesburg, South Africa. The role follows a hybrid working model, combining remote work with on-site presence as required.


Purpose of the role:

  • To provide high-quality marketing and communication deliverables across all mediums to help drive the growth, market share, profitability and brand reputation of Rock Processing Sales Area Africa. The role is responsible for implementing global and regional marketing strategies, strengthening brand presence, managing internal and external communications, and supporting business growth initiatives across the African region.


The job responsibilities:

  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the PLM system (Teamcenter).
  • Support the regional engineering team on SM range screen ETO projects.
  • Provide technical support for engineering projects and related activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales and Production teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to support project delivery.

Qualifications & experience requirements:

  • ​3–5 years or more of experience in mechanical design.
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) or a related field.
  • Experience in the crushing and screening (mining or aggregates) industry is advantageous.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD design software; experience with Siemens NX is an added advantage.
  • Experience designing large welded structures and/or vibrating equipment is beneficial.
  • Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
