Sandvik CEO Olof Faxander spoke at conference about "Diversity - a driver for growth"
Sandvik CEO Olof Faxander spoke today at the conference Gender and Diversity - A Key to Success, a part of the Indian Government's Grow with India and India Unlimited initiatives.
The theme for the conference was "Can we find ways to promote diverse leadership, diverse companies and organizations by exchanging experiences between Sweden and India?" The speaker list included Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister of India for Women and Child Development , Lila Poonawalla, previously CEO of Alfa Laval in India and the Founder of the Lila Poonawalla Foundation for Girls, of which Sandvik is a donor.
The only male speaker on the panel, Olof Faxanders presentation titled "Diversity - a driver for growth" highlighted the work Sandvik is doing in India to promote diversity and inclusion by services such as day shifts so that women can work in production, day-care for children, comfortable transport to ensure safety of our female employees and a strong strategy on how to attract more women, particularly the future generation of women. Out of the 1,131 employees at Sandvik's facitlities in Pune, 117 are women and recently Jyotsna Sharma joined the local management team as the first female CFO.
