Nobel Prize exhibition opening in Brazil

In partnership with five other Swedish companies, Sandvik has brought a new exhibition to São Paulo, Brazil. The exhibition is called Nobel Prize: Ideas Changing the World and invites the visitors to learn more about the story of Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prize winners over the decades, but also about the discoveries that have changed and are still changing the world.

The exhibition welcomes visitors of all ages and comprises artifacts and unique documents, artistic interpretation and advanced exhibition techniques. The opening of the exhibition was celebrated with a ceremonial event. Among others, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden held a speech.

The future of energy

A key happening during the event was a dialog about "the future of energy", where Nobel Prize winner Professor David Gross and other prominent specialists from business and academia discussed ways to use solar energy more efficiently and the need to invest in research and development.

The world is facing major challenges. This was true already when Alfred Nobel was active. He understood the importance of scientific achievements and breakthroughs as well as of peace efforts and a vibrant culture. These are qualities that Nobel wished to reward, and it continues to be the purpose of the Nobel Prize today. This is what the exhibition The Nobel Prize: Ideas Changing the World is all about.

saysLars Heikensten, CEO of the Nobel Foundation.

Rrepresentatives from SandvikThe other companies that helped bringing the exhibition to Brazil together with Sandvik and the Nobel museum were Volvo, Ericsson, Scania och Saab. Sandvik was represented in São Paulo by Francisco Campos, Salvador Fogliano, Tina Wilhelmsson, Olle Wijk and Fernando Pereira.
