Sandvik to appeal patent ruling

Sandvik today has decided to appeal the ruling by the Stockholm City Court in the patent dispute between Sandvik and Atlas Copco.

The City Court stated in its finding that Sandvik's patent was valid, but that Atlas Copco had not infringed the patent.

"Our assessment is that the City Court's interpretation of the scope of the patent was much too restrictive," says Sandvik's General Counsel Bo Severin.

The case involves patents related to steering and control of drill rigs.
