Sandvik lands tube order valued at SEK 115 million

Sandvik Steel has received an order from U.S.-based Westinghouse for steam-generator tubes for a nuclear power plant outside Houston, Texas, USA.

The contract is valued at about SEK 115 million and is equivalent to six months of production at Sandvik Steel's mill for high-quality steam-generator tubes in Sandviken, Sweden.

The tubes are produced in a nickel alloy and are the most advanced available on the market. Deliveries will start at the end of 1997.

"Sandvik's steam-generator tubes meet the customer's exceptionally high quality demands. Production is carried out with a very heavy emphasis on tolerances, purity and strength. The tubes combine high thermal conductivity with extreme corrosion resistance," says Mats Tynell, product manager at Sandvik Steel's Tube Division.
