The Role:

The Junior Logistics Engineer supports the Logistics Engineering function by providing operational, analytical, and systems support across the C4 Hub in Jet Park, the Burgersfort branch, and the broader core network regions within Africa. The role contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, warehouse optimization, logistics systems support, data analysis, and digital transformation projects, while assisting with the implementation and optimization of SAP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and future SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) initiatives.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Support daily Logistics Engineering activities across the C4 Hub, Burgersfort, and core network regions.

  • Analyse operational data to identify trends, process improvement opportunities, and performance gaps.

  • Develop and maintain operational reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Support SAP system enhancement initiatives and process optimisation activities.

  • Assist with the implementation, stabilisation, and optimisation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

  • Support future SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) implementation readiness activities.

  • Assist in warehouse process optimisation, layout reviews, and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Support continuous improvement projects by collecting, analysing, and interpreting operational data.

  • Maintain process documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and engineering records.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support warehouse operations, inventory management, freight, and supply chain initiatives.

  • Provide project coordination and administrative support for Logistics Engineering projects.

  • Assist with system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation activities for new supply chain solutions.

Your Profile:

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain engineering, supply chain management, logistics and/or business administration or similar discipline

  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain Management experience. Must have worked in a similar role/ capacity for at least 3 years.

  • Exposure to warehouse operations, logistics processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between operational sites.

Academic Knowledge

The successful candidate should have a sound understanding of the following areas:

  • Supply Chain Management principles.

  • Warehouse Operations and Distribution Management.

  • Inventory Planning and Control.

  • Transport and Freight Management.

  • Operations Management.

  • Process Mapping and Business Process Improvement.

  • Lean Manufacturing / Lean Warehousing principles.

  • Quality Management Systems.

  • Production Planning and Scheduling.

  • Data Analytics and Statistical Analysis.

  • Engineering Economics and Cost Analysis.

  • Project Management fundamentals.

  • Business Process Re-engineering.

  • Continuous Improvement methodologies.

  • Project Management qualification or relevant experience.

Technical Exposure

Candidates should have gained academic or practical exposure to:

  • Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, PivotTables, Power Query preferred).

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

  • ERP systems (SAP exposure advantageous).

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (Blue Yonder advantageous).

  • Transportation Management Systems (TMS) (Blue Yonder advantageous).

  • Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI (advantageous).

  • SQL or database fundamentals (advantageous).
