About the Role

As a Shot Blaster within our coating shed at Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions in Ballygawley, you will play an essential role in surface preparation prior to the powder coating process. By ensuring components are cleaned and prepared to specification, you help deliver high‑quality, durable finishes on our crushing and screening equipment. Your work supports manufacturing excellence and Sandvik’s purpose of advancing the world through engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operation of material preparation/shot blasting of parts & assemblies to SA2.5 standards, visual inspection and other designated activities.

  • Prepare components for coating by operating shot blasting equipment safely and efficiently

  • Ensure surfaces are filled, sanded, and smoothed to the required standard to support powder coating adhesion

  • Load, unload, and handle components within the coating shed using approved equipment

  • Identify surface defects and report issues prior to coating

  • Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance tasks

  • Comply fully with all Health & Safety, environmental, and Sandvik quality standards

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in shot blasting, surface preparation, or a similar industrial environment

  • Good understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely

  • Strong attention to detail and quality

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working within a coating shed or powder coating facility

  • Familiarity with steel surface preparation standards

  • Forklift truck or overhead crane certification

  • Experience working within Lean or continuous improvement environments

Work Environment

  • On‑site coating shed and manufacturing environment in Ballygawley

  • Day shift, 40 hours per week

  • Monday–Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm

  • Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
