Workshop Planner

Business Area Mining is a global leading supplier of equipment and tools, parts, service, digital solutions and sustainability-driving technologies for the mining and construction industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunneling and quarrying.

The Workshop Planner will be an onsite role in Elko, NV.

Key Responsibilities:

The Workshop Planner will be responsible for working closely with the workshop team to plan for manpower and material requirements to meet delivery commitments.

  • Develops and audits Standard Job Plans (SJPs)
  • Prepares and communicates rebuild schedules, Gantt charts, and other materials with internal service teams
  • Ensures that building, tooling, and personnel resources can be used effectively based on availability
  • Generates parts lists for all equipment related jobs
  • Places purchase orders for major components and outside services related to equipment jobs
  • Develops change orders based on updated scopes of work and communicates as required
  • Track all workshop jobs
  • Organizes outgoing shipment of units
  • Prepares reports and other information for weekly production meetings
  • Facilitates project debriefs to gather feedback, identify gaps, and improve SJPs and BOMs
  • Required to participate in all workshop safety meetings
  • Complies with SMC safety policies and applicable government, industry regulations or requirements
  • Completes pertinent data collection and reporting as required by location
  • Health and Safety: Identifies and reports any unsafe work habits
  • Sends weekly progress report to the workshop supervisor and manager for forwarding to the customer
  • Coordinates weekly planning meeting to present and/or adjust the weekly operational work plan
  • Prepare Backorder review prior to the weekly planning meeting
  • Prepare a weekly hours report per job & perform weekly updates of work plans by bay to generate efficiency and utilization projections.
  • Send the parts delivery request by workstation, in coordination with the parts coordinator, for delivery to the station.
  • Prepare a weekly operational work plan, considering the division of personnel by work shifts, assignment of technicians per project, in conjunction with Supervision and Workshop Management.
  • Any other responsibilities according to business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

Combination of education and experience considered

Minimum 3 years college level education and 2 years experience in similar role with responsibilities for planning jobs in a range from $200 to $1.5M

Must be computer literate, proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management System, as well as project management software

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years technical experience working as technician on heavy mining equipment
  • 4+ years in workshop rebuild planning and capacity management
  • CMMS Certification
  • Associates degree or certification program in business administration, project management or logistics
  • Proficiency in Maximo CMMS
  • Proficiency with MS Project and MS Excel
  • AI tools, such as MS Copilot
  • Knowledge of SAP

Additional expected competencies:

  • Mechanical understanding of heavy mobile equipment and component identification (Sandvik equipment preferred)
  • Ability to interpret parts diagrams, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and OEM technical procedures
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills, which will contribute to teamwork and customer relationships, is required
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team
  • An in depth understanding of customer business processes
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills
  • High level of initiative, drive and determination to achieve goals and targets set for customer satisfaction
  • Exemplary attitude towards fostering a culture of Continuous Improvement

KEY RESULT AREAS AND KPIs

  • Ensure that all information on maintenance performed is generated in a timely and reliable manner and is available for analysis and reporting required by the organization.
  • To accurately determine the workload for each team of technicians
  • Ensure that the information in the Maintenance Management Software is timely and of high quality.
  • Continuously improving Maintenance Plans and Programs in accordance with established goals.
  • GP compliance (projected profit – projected margins) attention to costs Ensure KPI Metrics are Achieved for Utilization.

Location: Elko, NV

This position will be posted a minimum of 5 days, or until filled.

Compensation:

Expected salary range for this role is from $74,240 to $95,000 annually
