Position Overview:

Mastercam seeks a Quality Control Specialist who is responsible for the testing and verification of changes across Mastercam's customer-facing web applications and its ecommerce solution.

The Quality Control Specialist I develops and executes test plans, builds and maintains automated regression coverage, documents defects, and provides release sign-off as part of the team's definition of done. The position requires the ability to determine an appropriate testing approach for systems that may lack existing documentation, and to communicate release risk clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Planning & Execution

  • Develops, maintains, and executes test plans and test cases for new features, enhancements, and defect fixes.
  • Establishes and maintains a regression test suite covering critical application workflows.
  • Develops and maintains automated tests for high-risk and frequently exercised paths, including transactional workflows.
  • Performs cross-browser, responsive, and accessibility verification on customer-facing changes.

Defect Management & Release Verification

  • Documents defects with sufficient detail that an engineer can reproduce and resolve the issue without follow-up.
  • Verifies defect fixes and provides release sign-off as part of the team's definition of done.
  • Maintains and improves the release checklist and quality process documentation.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Works with the team in writing, correctly sizing, and accurately detailing and breaking down stories and defects.
  • Actively participates in planning meetings, contributing testability and risk perspective early in the development cycle.
  • Communicates testing status and release risk regularly, inclusive of all pertinent details, with all necessary stakeholders.
  • Evaluates and recommends tools and processes for improving software quality.
  • Continuously develops a deep expertise in Mastercam's critical business processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in software quality control or quality assurance for web applications.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated tests using a browser automation framework.
  • Experience testing at the API level and using browser developer tools to diagnose issues beyond the user interface.
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tooling.
  • Experience with agile software development.
  • Experience testing localized or translated content is a strong plus, including verification of translated strings, character encoding, and layouts that must accommodate variable text length.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools or automation to improve productivity and operational effectiveness, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and apply such technologies at scale.

  • Above average communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide accurate and timely information in a succinct and easy to understand manner.
  • Precision in written communication, particularly in defect reporting for colleagues working in other time zones.
  • Tests and documents systems that lack existing documentation or specifications.
  • Establishes quality processes where none currently exist.
  • Well-organized, attention to detail and able to multi-task.
  • Problem solving and analysis skills.

This role will focus on integrating an acquired company (to be acquired) to Mastercam per Sandvik's and Mastercam's program and processes - from a compliance and financial controls perspective.

As the integration work will go down over time, the role is expected to take broader BA wide responsibilities e.g. under the common Sandvik compliance program (and also locally for the Hub and our other local business).
