We are seeking an ambitious, motivated, and results-oriented individual to join our team as Sourcing Specialist.

The role reports to the Territory Manager and is based in our offices in Gaborone, Botswana, overseeing Sourcing functions throughout the country.

The Role

As a Sourcing Specialist, you will operate and administer procurement functions, Vendor management, Contract management and supplier relationship management to meet key performance objectives.

Purpose

  • You strengthen Sandvik’s competitive position by improving supply chain value, proactively supporting Sourcing Regional Team.
  • You map, benchmark, evaluate, qualify, negotiate, select external suppliers for the purchase parts and components within multiple categories.
  • You are taught and exposed on different procurement policies and procedures; you support the Team in different steps throughout the entire acquisition process, including strategic and operational purchasing, in alignment with global directives and governance models defined by Sandvik Group, Business Area and Division
  • You are taught and follow performance indicators on regional suppliers, enabling the Division to continuously improve results and deliver value to the business.
  • You collaborate with peers, as well as to stakeholders, taking the responsibility for the overall outcomes on your tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You develop and manage multiple and simultaneous suppliers in the region, ensuring key stakeholders' involvement in the determination of requirements, specifications, selection criteria, review of proposals, negotiations and suppliers’ relationship management.
  • You negotiate contracts and provide support to global, regional and local needs regarding various suppliers.
  • You ensure various suppliers' optimal performance in terms of cost, availability, delivery, quality, reliability, etc.
  • You ensure various suppliers' adherence to Sandvik policies and procedures (NDA, ABC, Trade Compliance, Contracts, etc.).
  • You manage the contract/relationship with various suppliers, leveraging on their capabilities, uncovering and realizing maximum value, and reducing the risk of failure.
  • You map our business needs, and collaboratively develop and implement sourcing strategies, way-of-working and relationships towards various suppliers, ensuring procurement decisions support needs of key users and stakeholders.
  • You prioritize and ensure that the sourcing tasks are performed in a timely manner.
  • You are proactive, self-motivated and driven, with strong analytical skills.
  • You act as problem solver, as process leader for continued sourcing process improvement, while effectively manage stakeholders, both internal and external, by building strong team relationships, trust, driving results and promoting cost effective and value-added solutions.
  • Your negotiation skills are well-honed.

Your profile

  • Degree/ Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ Industrial Engineering/ CIPS or equivalent qualification or supply chain discipline.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a warehousing/distribution.
  • MS office skills – intermediate level
  • Prior exposure to ERP, WMS, TMS and EHS management systems (experience with Aurora and DI is beneficial)
  • Experience with flexible shift work & rosters
  • Mining Experience an added advantage
  • 3 years’ experience in Sourcing or Supply Chain Environment.
  • 3 years’ experience in Mechanical Components e.g. engines, and/or hydraulics.

Other

  • Negotiation and Strategic Sourcing expertise.
  • Suppliers accounts management experience.
  • Ability to travel regionally and globally if required (~20%).
  • Advanced level of Excel and Data Analysis skills.
  • SAP 4 Hana experience
  • Knowledge or exposure in developing Power BI reporting
  • Have worked in complex matrix organization
