Within the Digital Mining Technologies division, Sandvik brings together offerings in areas such as automation, mine planning, and collision avoidance. Elen Toodu’s task is to tie the different pieces together so that they contribute to creating the mine of the future.
Elen Toodu works as Director, Strategic Product Portfolio Management at the Digital Mining Technology division within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions. The division is focusing on automation and optimalization of mining equipment and includes acquired companies Deswik (mine planning), Newtrax (collision avoidance), and Polymathian (mine optimization software).
“My role is to bring all these offering together and find the best ways to provide extra value to our customers. It is a really exciting task to work together with these companies and work out the best strategy and way forward,” Elen Toodu says.
The aim is to create an end-to-end offering, such as digitalizing operations close to daily decision-making – from how you plan the shifts, gather information from the shifts and automate the execution.
“Digitalization makes mining operations safer and more efficient. Our goal is to limit the amount of manual work that needs to be done and make the tools as easy to use as possible.”
