From powder to plate with Nikhil Dixit
Nikhil Dixit, Additive Manufacturing Engineer, discovered 3D-printing when studying in Pune, India, and today he is one of the engineers taking this exciting technique to new heights at Additive Manufacturing in Sandviken. With the right powder he can print almost anything, and with the right spices he perfects his cooking. Listen to Nikhil Dixit, Additive Manufacturing Engineer, when he shares his story in this episode of Meet Sandvik – Employee Stories.
In the podcast Nikhil explains the challenges he meets when trying to fulfil the customer needs in additive manufacturing, or 3D-printing as the technique is also called. He also highlights some of the advantages of having access to a brand new titanium powder facility in Sandviken.
“The starting point for additive manufacturing is the powder, once you have good powder you can play around with the process parameters and assure the perfect part quality. We have filled a gap with our new titanium powder facility – it will be a boost for us,” he says.
Living in Sandviken, instead of his hometown Pune in India, leads to some obstacles though. Getting the right Indian spices for perfecting his cooking skills is one of them – which he has overcome.
