The aim of the new SMR Business Intelligence team is to deliver business value by providing insights to business users within a short time frame. This objective will require modernised data architecture and a good understanding of our data domains. The team will shift its focus from tools and technology to understanding the business questions that need to be answered, and the data required to answer them. We are now recruiting for a MDG Backend Developer (P3) for a permanent role in our Dublin Office.


Become part of the Software Development and Application Management team to contribute effectively in enhancements, project development, continuous improvement, and AM support according to project and workstream needs. Each workstream represents information objects implemented in MDG, i.e. Equipment, Item, Customer and Supplier master data. In addition to MDG, you will work on the latest technologies ABAP, Azure integration, SAP S/4 Hana 2020, Jira Cloud and Service Now. The successful candidate will perform IT system developments according to business demands and ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.


Software Development

  • Support customer in defining feasible and sustainable solutions, actively participate in discussions
  • Develop agreed solution within specified timeframe
  • Conduct demo to own team and business stakeholder prior to User Acceptance Test
  • Perform testing, and deployment to QA and production environments, including required data load

Application Management

  • Investigate incidents and resolves them within specified timeframe
  • Fulfill standard and non-standard requests, e.g. User Access, data loads and updates, etc. in a timely manner
  • Work with problem tickets, provide root cause analysis, and propose corrective or preventive actions
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other IT delivery teams and End Users during ticket investigation and resolution as necessary

Support activities related to project/new enhancements transition to AM:

  • GoLive readiness
  • HyperCare support
  • Create necessary technical documentations and AM instructions
  • Provide KT and hand-over to AM, where applicable
  • Share technical knowledge and expertise within the team

Your Profile

You are a highly motivated, delivery focused with superb communication and collaboration skills and a passion for excellence. You have a positive outlook, a can-do attitude and thrive on working in a multi-cultural team environment. You have a strong working knowledge of MDG Configuration, MDG Data Modelling and Business workflows (MDG specific – rule based). You have in depth depth technical expertise in using ABAP to perform SAP activities. Experience with Incident-Problem-Change process, and Software Development Lifecycle; has worked and is aware of usual responsibilities within AM support role.

The successful candidate must be educated to a degree level and have 5+ years of SAP MDG Development experience with at least 1 implementation and 1 support project. You have an excellent understanding of MDG Configuration, MDG Data Modelling and Business workflows (MDG specific – rule based). You have a strong understanding of the best practices of sending data out and receiving data into SAP system. The successful candidate will have experience with Incident-Problem-Change process, and Software Development Lifecycle; has worked and is aware of usual responsibilities within AM support role. You will have a good understanding of how MDG applications can be exposed on Fiori via Gateway.
