Business Operations Manager (Parts & Service) - Nevada Gold Mine

Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology, the leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry, currently has an opening for a Business Operations Manager at the Elko, NV location.

The Business Operations Manager - NGM is responsible to manage the operational part of the business relationship between Sandvik and a Nevada Gold Mines. This position will be the primary point of contact with the customer and responsible for the business growth for this customer.

You will be responsible for expanding the customer penetration of Sandvik’s portfolio and Over-The-Counter parts and consumables. The primary focus is customer satisfaction and customer share gain. Position reports to Business Line Manager P&S.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Customer Share Growth and Development

  • Ensure compliance with the Global Framework Agreement with the customer, following close the KPIs set for the agreement and that Sandvik and NGM move to be strong productivity partners
  • Promotes sales (may include handling and collaborating with other departments in all aspects of bidding, project studies, customer requests, providing leads, assisting on or making sales calls, making presentations, providing training, providing competitive intelligence, etc…) directly to end-customer
  • Creates business development plans and targets for the product range in collaboration with the Business Line Managers. This will include the introduction of new products into the customer
  • Develops and communicates the right solutions and offering to be sold in the customer
  • Provides significant input into strategic plans for the continued expansion of the product line for all relevant Customer Share within the customer
  • Coordinates data from the customer for analysis, research and design engineering for the successful development of new product offerings
  • Participates in the Management team meetings to develop and implement plans and actions in accordance with Sandvik’s initiatives and guidelines
  • Identifies critical inventory to support the product over its lifetime and collaborate with the planners
  • Ensure that we have the right information for equipment ordering and forecasting and also making sure that P&S, Rock Tools will have the right support developed for Parts stock and Service competence development
  • Aids in the development of product pricing strategy
  • Ensure that all new machines arrivals will be setup and commissioned properly and customer is satisfied with the process


  • Manages expenses within budget
  • Manages forecasted sales on budget, meeting gross profit targets

People Management and Development

  • Hires, coaches, motivates, trains, evaluates and directs team members to accomplish defined goals and objectives
  • Manages, motivates and influences ad hoc teams as driven by business needs
  • Plans and assigns areas to cover to team members to ensure adequate customer coverage
  • Ensures implementation of the technical training program
  • Oversee proper on-boarding of new personnel in accordance with Sandvik’s procedures
  • Manages resources to deliver internal projects and customer projects on time and within budget

Customer Service

  • Provides training and education on the product range, assisting with the compilation of tender documentation, pricing strategies, and the supply of marketing material to support sales efforts
  • Coordinates and reviews information, ensuring that product performance levels and specifications meet requirements

Technical Expertise

  • Maintains current data on competitor product development and competitor product performance including customer size and customer share data
  • Provides on-going customer feedback to BLMs
  • Monitors test results for new products to implement product and service improvements

Safety and Environment

  • Complies with SMRT safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements
  • Identifies and reports any unsafe work habits
  • Strives to find safer ways for customers to work with Sandvik’s products

Personal Leadership

  • Ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Values and current Company Policies and Procedures
  • Takes responsibility for personal development and enhancement of skills
  • Proactively ensures community involvement within the area of responsibility

Your profile

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Business discipline is a must. Specialization in Services Marketing. Ten years of industry-related experience. Experience in managing global key mining customers with high organigram complexity, and multiple units worldwide.
