Digital Driller Engineer

At our Underground Drilling division, we are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Digital Driller Engineer to lead the development and deployment of simulator-based training solutions for selected underground drill rig models. This role is pivotal in advancing our journey towards intelligent drilling automation, a digitalized product offering. The role is permanent and based in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.

Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.
Your mission
As a Digital Driller Engineer, your mission is to shape the future of underground drilling by translating customer needs and evolving industry trends into a compelling product vision. You will take ownership of selected digital drilling products throughout their lifecycle—ensuring they deliver market relevance, profitability, superior quality, and uncompromised safety. Your role is pivotal in maintaining competitiveness and driving innovation in automation and simulation. You will lead cross-functional and cross-border cooperation, aligning priorities and fostering strong partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Your main responsibilities
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers using the Digital Driller™ simulator
- Assist in setup, configuration and integration of simulator systems
- Deliver hands-on training sessions for operators and maintenance teams, both at the factory and remotely
- Demonstrate Digital Driller™ simulator capabilities to different stakeholders internally/externally
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve simulator features, training content and documentation
- Digital Driller™ simulator integration to new products and technologies (Artificial Intelligence/VR/XR/troubleshooting kits/test walls etc.)
- Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and escalate complex cases to product line and suppliers
- Support product launches and customer onboarding for new simulator modules
Your background and what we find important
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering (preferably in automation, electrics or mining technology)
- Knowledge on CANBUS and protocols
- Experience with underground drilling equipment or training simulators is a plus
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Positive and energetic mindset - you enjoy working in an international business environment
- Ability to work independently and travel as needed
- Fluent in English; other languages are a bonus
