About the Role:
Based at Heatherbrae and reporting to the Business Development and Strategic Projects Manager, the R&D Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of new products that meet customer and market needs. This role facilitates commercial outcomes, ensures compliance with technical standards, and manages projects from concept through to commercialisation. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that enhance safety and efficiency in mining and tunnelling applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead product development projects from concept to commercialisation, ensuring functional performance, quality, and cost targets are met.
- Conduct engineering analysis, modelling, and validation testing to confirm product performance.
- Maintain accurate technical drawings and ensure compliance with Australian and international standards.
- Manage project documentation and stakeholder communications throughout the design process.
- Coordinate product trials and provide technical support for internal and external enquiries.
- Maintain and update product standards and documentation in line with company systems.
- Support quality assurance and WHS compliance across all design activities.
About You:
You are a qualified Mechanical Engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for innovation. Your experience with Autodesk software (Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault) and your ability to interpret technical drawings and standards enable you to deliver high-quality, compliant designs. You are detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects from concept through to commercialisation, and you take pride in producing comprehensive technical documentation. A background in the mining industry would be highly desirable, as it will help you understand the unique challenges and opportunities within our sector.
With strong written and verbal communication skills, you collaborate effectively with internal teams, cross-functional departments, and external organisations. Your ability to work cooperatively ensures smooth coordination and successful project outcomes.
