Sandvik becomes research partner for development of heavy vehicle manufacturing
Sandvik Coromant, a product area within Sandvik, is joining as “Industrial Partner” in a new research center called the “Powertrain Manufacturing for Heavy Vehicles Application Lab” (PMH Application Lab).
The research center is established by the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the German research organization Fraunhofer and RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden). It was inaugurated on Tuesday September 13 at KTH in Stockholm, Sweden together with the other two industrial partners – Volvo and Scania.
The PMH Application Lab will primarily focus on improving the powertrain production process. This involves, for example, material selection and machining of camshafts and engines. Sandvik Coromant has been active in selecting the focus areas and the initial projects, and is now involved in three of the main projects.
Sandvik Coromant is the world’s leading supplier of tools, tooling solutions and know-how to the metalworking industry.
