Sandvik.com becomes home.sandvik

Sandvik has started moving parts of its web presence to its own top-level domain, .sandvik, and is one of the first companies in the world to do so. The first website to move to the new domain is the global Group site sandvik.com, which can now be found at home.sandvik.

“The registration and implementation of the new top-level domain is an important step for us,” says Pär Altan, responsible for external communication at Sandvik. “You could say that we have purchased part of the Internet to protect our web presence, both from a brand perspective and in terms of providing added trust for our website visitors.”

For example, the new top-level domain will serve as an extra guarantor for the websites under it.

“As we all know, it is not uncommon for the websites of well-known companies to be copied, something that we have also experienced. With .sandvik at the end of the web address we make it even clearer that Sandvik endorses the content of the site.”

Sandvik will continue to own the domain sandvik.com, but anyone who enters the address will automatically be redirected to home.sandvik. The various country websites for the Sandvik Group will be successively transferred to the new domain, starting during March.

Sandvik has also registered the top-level domain .sandvikcoromant.
