Important collaboration for global sustainable development
Olof Faxander discussed global sustainable development with business leaders at the status meeting of the Sida network Swedish Leadership for Sustainable Development (SLSD)
The status meeting of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency's (Sida) network Swedish Leadership for Sustainable Development (SLSD) was held on 28 May 2014.
SLSD is a network formed in May 2013 comprising some 20 leading companies with Swedish connections, including Sandvik, Boliden, Elekta, Ericsson, H&M, IKEA, Indiska, Löfbergs, Tele2, Ratos, SKF, SPP, Systembolaget and Volvo, who together with Sida are working for sustainable global development and to reduce poverty in the world.
The combined sales of the companies participating in the network correspond to half of Sweden's GDP. The participating companies share many values and priorities, such as trade union rights, equality, co-determination and transparency. These values comprise a solid platform for identifying tangible cooperation projects concerning joint issues and having a positive impact at a global level.
"Many sustainability issues are best pursued through a combination of individual efforts and partnerships. Through the network, we have agreed on clear objectives, relating to anti-corruption worldwide for example, which was the theme for the work group in which Sandvik participated during the year. Together we are stronger, show a united front and can make a more powerful impact." commented Olof Faxander.
