Italian student visit at Sandvik

"At 3:32 pm, I sent a Facebook message to Sandvik to ask if it would be possible to arrange a student visit. 72 minutes later, Sandvik had discussed it internally and came back with an email, to start a discussion on how to realize the visit in a valuable way."

The words are Bernhard Bauditsch's - the master student from the Free University of Bolzano, Italy, who turned to Sandvik via Facebook that afternoon in June.

Innovative interest

The small group of Italian students wanted to organize a study trip with focus on innovation as their master focused on business administration in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Already throughout our initial screening of possible visiting companies we came across Sandvik. Admittedly Sandvik was primarily unknown to us, but it seemed to be the perfect fit, ranking in diverse ratings among the most innovative companies in the world. We knew we were on the right track when we got such super‐fast social media response." says Bernhard Bauditsch.

Amazing company and people, great atmosphere and working environment, importance in innovation and diversification, open mind, team work and fair play are important attitudes, significant issue is the sustainability, offers great working careers., says one of the students after the trip

The whole morning was perfectly planned and timed. The moderator was great and really open to every question we had. The presentation of the company, the innovation process, the company's belief in integration and was very interesting. The working environment looked marvelous. Career possibilities were well defined. I liked the multi-cultural attitude of the company, as well as the precisely defined goals and objectives. Every presented part was clear explained and drew interest to the topic., was another comment from one of the students.

Visit at the Rovereto site in Italy

In October, Giuliana Massimino welcomed the group in Rovereto where the Sandvik Coromant plant and recently inaugurated R&D Center are located. The group walked through the flow from raw materials to finished stock to get an understanding of how we control machines performances, losses, quality targets and all measures adopted to reach company targets.

I was impressed and surprised about the very clean working area. I have visited a lot of companies before and I have never seen employees so convinced about the core values of the company. For me, the most interesting part was the R&D presentation, showing how the prototypes are created, says one of the master students after the visit in both Stockholm and Rovereto.
