New Chief Financial Officer
Mats Backman has been appointed Executive Vice President, CFO of Sandvik and member of the Group Executive Management. Prior to this appointment, he held the position Vice President Finance, IT and Business Development for the business area Sandvik Machining Solutions.
How will you make a difference?
"I have a good understanding of Sandvik and our business models as well as experience from other industries, which will be useful in this position. In times of change, we need to focus and direct our efforts towards clear deliverables. I will continue to develop the global finance function and aim at bringing it closer to the business. We also need to develop our performance management."

Some facts
Mats Backman grew up in Malmberget in the northernmost part of Sweden. He has a business degree from the University of Stockholm and has held positions at Ernst & Young, Boliden, Nordea and Outokumpu before joining Sandvik. He is married with four children and spend most of his spare time with his family, engaged in the childrens' sports activities.
