About the Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Control Tower Officer to join our team. In this role, you will ensure that all Sandvik consignments are shipped in a cost-effective and compliant manner, validating freight invoices against expected costs using Freight Management Systems such as BY TMS.
You will coordinate international and domestic inbound and outbound freight, ensuring smooth customs clearance supported by accurate and complete documentation. You will also work closely with internal customers to provide efficient and cost-effective freight solutions that meet business demand.
This is a full-time role; however, Sandvik offers a range of flexible working options, including condensed workweeks, remote working opportunities, and flexible start and finish times to support work–life balance.
Responsibilities:
Perform day-to-day administrative tasks, including freight invoice validation, claims processing, and preparation of export documentation.
Maintain data accuracy and integrity within freight management systems.
Support Sandvik shipping staff by troubleshooting processing issues and providing training where required.
Manage exceptions and deviations, including shipping charge discrepancies, failed deliveries, and lost or delayed shipments.
Obtain and validate quotes for ad-hoc freight movements and ensure invoices are correctly approved for Accounts Payable.
Prepare and deliver end-of-month reporting on freight operations and performance.
About you:
We are looking for an independent, efficient, and adaptable individual, both entry level and those with freight experience are encouraged to apply. An interest in the mining industry or exposure to Transport Management Systems (TMS) will be highly regarded.
Key skills and qualifications:
Proficient in Microsoft suite.
Experience in SAP and BY TMS advantageous but not essential.
Willingness and capability to develop knowledge of international trade compliance and freight insurance processes.
Exposure to operational freight processes (e.g. freight booking, invoice validation) is advantageous but not essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
