Purchase Sourcing Officer

The role

We are seeking applications from motivated individuals for Purchase Sourcing Officer to join our Logistic team based in the Freeport Indonesia - located in the Papua Province, Indonesia.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational buying process /activities and monitoring supplier performance for their respective supplier base.

Main Responsibilities :

The Purchase and Sourcing (75%)

Operational Buying

  • Execute the operational buying process for supplier base (purchase order release, confirmation, fulfilment and administration)

  • ERP parameter maintenance within given framework

  • Respond to customer service requests according to expectations (expediting, item price and availability etc.)

  • Price and lead time updates

  • Handling of pre advice suppliers for deliveries

  • Resolve inbound discrepancies (short shipments, wrong or damaged parts, inadequate paperwork etc.)

  • Optimize the operational purchasing process and costs to ensure that the correct parts are delivered and available on time.

  • Tactical maintenance of inventory settings for items within supplier base

  • Assist, execute, and support, working capital vs. availability optimization program and strategic stock management process

Supplier Relationship and Performance Management

  • Create, maintain and develop supplier relationships via good communication and co-operation

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting supplier performance for their respective supplier base

  • Escalate underperformance of a supplier to the category team lead and sourcing organization.

  • Ensure suppliers understand and meet the set inbound targets and initiate actions to be taken to bring supplier performance up to standard where necessary.

PO Outstanding Expediting (25%)

  • Drive expediting excellence across all procurement activities, ensuring on- time delivery of goods and services in alignment with project schedules and contractual obligations.

  • Monitor and manage the full lifecycle of purchase orders, from issuance to final delivery, identifying and resolving delays before they impact operations.

  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication, accountability, and performance.

  • Lead coordination efforts between procurement, logistics, engineering, and project teams to align delivery timelines with operational milestones.

  • Develop and implement expediting strategies, tools, and KPIs to enhance visibility, efficiency, and control across the supply chain.

  • Prepare and present detailed expediting reports, risk assessments, and recovery plans to senior leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Competencies :

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain discipline

  • 5-7 years’ experience of same position

  • English proficiency

  • Good computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills
