Currently, we have an opening for a Battery Asset Specialist. In this role you will lead initiatives that optimize battery health, lifecycle, and financial performance. This role will manage comprehensive battery tracking (down to module and cell level), analyze usage data to improve performance and availability, and champion best practices for safety, sustainability, and service excellence. As the subject matter expert on battery electric vehicles (BEVs), you'll support sales, operations, and continuous improvement initiatives while driving strategies for battery reuse, recycling, and end-of-life solutions.

What you will be doing
- Manage, and establish the roadmap for all important parameters relating to optimum battery health and financial performance including forecasting capacity replacements.
- Be a champion for practical solutions for projects and operations, leveraging our existing foundation of global best practices and act as the Sales Area subject matter expert to answer sales and field questions relating to Parts & Service BEV offering and batteries in general.
- Manage the battery data by ensuring all are logged and tracked by serial number (including the modules, cells, and all other important data), and working with relevant stakeholders on ensuring accuracy
- Drill down to module level and track serial numbers, locations, build specs, any latest product updates, bulletins, mandatory changes, cycle performance, energy in/out, temperatures
- Utilize obtained history tracking to ensure action is taken (or recommended) to optimize battery life and protect customers from machine down issues due to battery non-availability
- Track certain required actions per battery (i.e. deep charge balance) and ensure required actions are executed to collect data
- Understand and advise on assets thresholds within contract parameters at customer sites (i.e., asset to unit ratios, excess or insufficient quantities etc.,) to maintain efficiency on site and within pricing strategies.
- Be the lead regarding all BaaS continuous improvement projects, product updates, service schedules and process development.
- Track all active modules in Canada (customer owned, Sandvik owned, and stock) to ensure issues and updates are known and actioned to active batteries
- Identify opportunities to help extend the life of batteries
- Develop and manage lifecycle and end of life strategies (recycle, second use, etc.)
- Drive safety focus in all aspects relating to batteries including safe workshop protocols
- Passionate about sustainability and new technology (battery electric drive system focus)
What you will bring along
- Strong attention to detail with excellent planning, analysis, and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to deliver results through data-driven recommendations and performance management
- Experienced in maintenance/service operations with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Professional, self-motivated, adaptable, and customer-focused
- Committed to health & safety, with solid IR/ER understanding and ability to manage change
- Skilled in training, knowledge transfer, and using business systems and technology
- Willing and able to travel as required
Required Education/ Experience
- 5+ years service experience.
- Strong Sandvik product and operations experience.
- Associates Degree (or two-year college diploma) in Business or Marketing or Technical Diploma within Engineering, etc. or equivalent demonstrated technical knowledge/expertise.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Valid Passport.
- Training in key aspects of technical trades.
- The role may require working underground.
