MATERIALS MANAGER

A Materials Manager position has become available to support business strategies and objectives.
Role Objective:
Manage indirect materials, direct materials (inventory), warehouses and storeman.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) and a relevant 3-year university degree or diploma in related field 3-5 years of experience in warehousing, with management roles and responsibilities for at least 3 of the 5 years. Experience in HSE and storage of hazardous chemicals. Strong management and leadership skills. Computer literacy is essential. Effective communication skills. Organizational skills. Ability to identify non-conformances and opportunities for improvement. Strong data analysis skills. Proven ability to utilize and develop computerized spreadsheets and word processing applications. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Ability to lead a team of storemen and to work well with multidisciplinary teams. Practical experience and knowledge of ERP software procurement modules is essential. Accounting software knowledge is an advantage. Own transport and valid driver’s licence. Able and willing to work after hours and weekends if and when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse management including people, material handling equipment and inventory. Record and maintain accurate inventory transaction data on Microsoft Dynamics NAV to reflect accurate transactions on the system. Optimize inventory to support the business objective of reducing net working capital. Ensure competent team members, reliable systems, and adequate planning, organizing, monitoring, and control in inventory management. Develop and improve warehousing disciplines and stock control systems. Effective management control over inventory to prevent stock losses, stock-outs, and ensure continuity of supply to meet customer demand. Analyse and report inventory information. Manage daily and weekly stock control procedures and disciplines. Liaise with procurement and supply chain to prevent overstocking and stock-outs. Ensure all items are stored in compliance with HSE requirements. Ensure relevant storage locations and hazardous stores are well maintained. Align departmental objectives with the rest of the company. Oversee and coordinate on quarterly stock taking as required. Detailed analysis, reconciliation and reporting of stock discrepancies. Manage annual stock count during the financial year-end with auditors.
