Indirect Purchase & Admin Manager

The position is a role delivering value through the management of strategic and tactical procurement professionals by using a hands-on leadership model with a strong focus on target achievement and commercial value.

The position will lead, support and track commercial activities and provide timely and effective sourcing expertise and support to stakeholders and taking the responsibility for the overall outcomes.

Key accountabilities include:

  • With a high level of autonomy drive and develop indirect purchasing budgets, plans, policies, systems, and procedures in accordance with group audit and compliance requirement.
  • Identify, evaluate, and capitalize on opportunities to reduce sourcing costs by improving the organization’s buying patterns and supply channels. Manage the effective delivery of projects by determining project timelines and objectives.
  • In conjunction with the key client (i.e. PU/Workshop-Managers and other stakeholders), provide high level expertise for a significant number of high risk, high value (“Strategic Critical”) sourcing activities.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage supplier and vendor relationships to secure terms that are in the organization’s best interest and added value. Ensure new or changed supply arrangements are effectively communicated to all stakeholders affected by the changes.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of professionals to ensure that sourcing activities meet established targets and standards. Set up responsible category KPIs/annual business plan and implement accordingly.
  • Support global projects from Global Category Management when needed.

Requirement:

  • A proven track record of success in supplier management, contract negotiation, process & procedure standardization, and risk management in order to deliver the targets.
  • Ability to successfully lead and develop direct reports in order to create a purchasing organization.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Decisive, with a strong sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
  • Prior experience with procurement systems like [e.g. ERP or SAP] or other system is preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in indirect or strategic procurement, with at least 3 years in a team leadership or complex project management role.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Machinery Engineering, or a related field.

Other Information:

  • This role is hosted by mining sales area China and reports to VP sales area China, scope covers business area Mining, Rock Processing in China.
  • This role will also manage Shanghai Hongqiao office admin.
