Division Category Manager, Steel fabrications

We’re looking for a Division Category Manager, Steel fabrications to our Load & Haul Division’s Sourcing team. This position is in Sandvik’s Turku site which is the main product development and manufacturing center for our Load & Haul equipment.

Your job

Division sourcing category manager is responsible for assigned direct material category. Main job is to develop and maintain relationships of the strategic suppliers in your category in close collaboration with R&D, engineering, supplier quality and purchasing to deliver the best value to L&H business in terms of Quality, Delivery Performance and Total Cost.

Division category manger is responsible for global Category governance including strategy definition and deployment with support among PU Category managers in respected category

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor supplier performance in cooperation with other functions and leading a cross functional team of buyer, design, quality, production engineers.
  • Sourcing strategy development and implementation
  • To manage new supplier projects, ensure agreed targets and secure supply.
  • Total cost of ownership, ensuring category strategy implementation and managing supplier negotiations are vital part of the job
  • Risk governance
  • Develop and maintain strategic partners to cooperate with key stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain sourcing projects, ensure targets and secure supply
  • Target cost and supplier selection/involvement as sourcing representative in R&D projects
  • Follow supplier market and trends globally
  • Conduct supplier negotiations and selection process in collaboration with SQ and supply
  • Contract management
  • Supplier capacity management and quality management in supplier selection
  • Ensure adherence to Sandvik Purchasing Policy, Code of Conduct and EHS and sustainability targets

Your background and what we find important

  • Min. 5 years in strategic sourcing and experience in mechanical engineering industry in sales , production, purchasing or R&D
  • Degree in engineering at Masters or Bachelor level
  • Experience or training or degree in Sales or Strategic Purchasing
  • Excellent knowledge in Strategic Sourcing
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage complex accounts
  • Knowledge in fundaments of financing and agreement law
  • Risk analysis and supplier audit knowledge
  • Technical and commercial orientation
  • Good understanding of manufacturing , supply chain and R&D processes
  • Analytical , problem solving skills and project management skills
  • Good collaboration skills to build effective relations internally and externally
  • Service attitude, good communication
  • Change management governance skills
  • Innovative thinker, challenging the status quo
  • Fluency in English
  • Job requires frequent travelling, approx. 50%
