We are seeking a Ground Support Sales Representative (GSSR) to promote and sell Ground Support Division (GSD) products across West Africa while providing technical support to customers. The role includes monitoring customer consumption, coordinating with supply planning and logistics, and building strong customer relationships through regular field testing and onsite support. Extensive regional travel and underground work are required. The position can be based anywhere within the hiring country.
Key responsibilities.
- Identify and develop sales opportunities while delivering on agreed KPI targets.
- Develop a comprehensive sales plan and strategy for the assigned territory.
- Retain and grow business with existing customers while generating new business opportunities.
- Serve as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless sales process.
- Anticipate and understand customer needs, aligning them with the company’s product offerings to maximize customer value and sales profitability.
- Pursue sales leads by visiting existing and prospective customers of strategic relevance; assess customer needs and recommend suitable products and services; handle complex customer enquiries; negotiate prices and delivery schedules within authorized limits; and close sales orders to meet revenue goals.
- Gather, analyze, and communicate market and business intelligence to product and sales management using designated systems.
- Participate in technical studies, product demonstrations, and field tests as required.
- Take full ownership of sales plans and strategies by prioritizing and scheduling activities to ensure performance targets are achieved.
- Consistently demonstrate the company’s values and adhere to the organizational Code of Conduct.
- Comply fully with company policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.
- Uphold and adhere to all anti-fraud and anti-bribery policies within Sandvik.
Qualification and Competencies
- Minimum of a technical diploma or degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant sales experience, preferably involving Ground Support products in underground mining applications.
- Ideally, 5+ years of broader industry experience within the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience within the relevant technical discipline.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and provide guidance to team members when required.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- High level of computer literacy; advanced digital skills are considered an added advantage.
