Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking a dynamic and customer-oriented individual to join our team as Product Master specializing in Mining Equipment / Rotary Drills. The Product Master will play a vital role in act as the subject matter expert, apply a strong understanding of concepts and principles within the area of expertise.

This position will support the Indonesia team for Sandvik’s business by providing technical expertise, product knowledge, and commercial support throughout the sales and after-sales process. The role involves close collaboration with Sales, Service, and Operations teams to ensure the effective positioning, application, and performance of rotary drill products in line with customer needs and business objectives. The Product Master will also contribute to product training, market feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen Sandvik’s competitiveness in the Indonesian market.

Key Responsibilities

  • The position must be responsible for complex assignments, demonstrate leadership as the subject matter expert, and use an understanding of concepts and principles in the area of expertise.

  • Work closely with customers by using an expert understanding of their needs to act as a trusted advisor and determine the appropriate solution.

  • To be the division’s technical contact person with two-way communication (to the Sales Area and the EQ Product Line/factory).

  • Collaborate with Level 6 Product Line Managers within the Sales Area.

  • Ensure frontline readiness for new technologies and product introductions (parts, resources, training) and be proactive with an operational readiness plan.

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR EXPERT

1. Conduct highly specialized installations, repairs, and inspections of various products and equipment at customer sites or their premises.

2. Determine the best approach, considering energy efficiency, environmental impact, and maintenance costs when providing customer support.

3. Provide advanced troubleshooting for highly complex situations and provide technical feedback on issues. (CPI = Product Issues Feedback). Second line support 20%.

4. Work proactively to develop new solutions to prevent recurring problems:

  • Transfer knowledge and use it to solve new and highly complex problems.

  • Spend 20% of their time collecting technical information and add to the database.

  • Complete analysis of failed products and report on anything out of the ordinary to the relevant party (e.g. Product Support and Service Technician).

  • Recommend and/or develop products or processes to improve system performance and to fulfill the customer's or other user's needs.

​5. Organize corrective campaigns and follow up on completion in the Sales Areas. (20% of the time.)

6. Conduct and support warranty investigations.

7. Upon request, provide application advice to sales and review operating cost proposals.

PLANNING AND REPORTING

1. Interpret control system data and upgrade software.

2. Provide expert input into project specifications, cost and material estimates, project schedules, reports, contacts, or tender documents.

3. Report and document the results of activities and findings.

4. Make recommendations based on reports to better serve the customer and to improve processes.

5. Perform adjustments of systems for client equipment.

6. Conduct product launching and testing for client commissioning services.

CUSTOMER VALUE ADD

1. Act as an expert and a go-to person in the area of expertise and provide advice and guidance to clients and colleagues.

2. Build and maintain customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor in partnering with the customer to determine solutions.

3. Support the customer’s product, application, processes, competency, or mining conditions by advising on possible improvements to more advanced solutions and products.

4. Produce positive results in sales-client interventions.

5. Use deep knowledge of the tasks, tools, and procedures associated with providing technical support to the sales team and customers.

6. Product Operational Readiness – this is the package for the customer that de-risks them in changing out a competitor fleet to Sandvik.

COLLABORATION WITH PARTS & SERVICES AND EQUIPMENT DIVISIONS

1. An active member of global Expert Networks.

2. Coordinates information and knowledge between Equipment divisions and Sales Areas:

  • Technical training courses/seminars.

  • New product training/coaching (assure course content translations are correct).

  • Lead and coordinate equipment division workshops and seminars.

3. Collect technical feedback and provide feedback to the EQ Division product line.

4. Collaborate with the Parts & Services division and take technical responsibility for training interventions in relevant Sales Areas (i.e., manuals, toolkits, and implementation of plans and schedules.)

5. Functions as second-line support between Parts and Services, Equipment Divisions and Sales Areas, and Technical and Application Specialists.

6. Takes technical and application ownership of market releases of new products and their versions by ramping down old products.

7. Aftermarket support to the equipment divisions and sales areas. 8. Project Operational Readiness support for large projects.

SUPERVISION/ACT AS A COACH

1. Spend 40% of the time guiding, coaching, and training colleagues in application processes, equipment, and client-facing behaviors:

  • Transfer knowledge to other service technicians to build the capability and understanding of the team.

2. Deliver high-level technical and application training to colleagues and refined content training to customers/operators.

3. Provide project/technical leadership to a group of service technicians.

4. Support Research/Development in technical details during the New Product Development (NPD) process.

HEALTH & SAFETY

1. Make improvements to create a safer working environment.

2. Participate in safety issue reviews and investigations.

3. Implements product safety and service bulletins.

4. Prepare and execute all activities in line with SHEQ rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, and guidelines, and promote awareness, including highlighting any anomalies as appropriate.

Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Technical Diploma or related field, equivalent relative experience may be considered.

  • More than 8 years exposure to Mining equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, and/or rebuilds. Familiarity with the mining industry is highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a high level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Intermediate English proficiency

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.
