Procurement Officer
Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi, within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area, a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and knowledge in a wide range of applications such as rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling and quarrying.

1. Purpose of the Role
The Procurement Officer is responsible for executing purchasing activities in alignment with Sandvik’s global procurement policies. The role ensures timely sourcing of goods and services, cost optimisation, supplier performance management, and compliance with safety, ethical, and sustainability standards. The position supports operations by maintaining a safe, reliable, and cost‑effective supply for production and service activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Procurement & Purchasing Operations
Execute end‑to‑end procurement processes, including requisition review, sourcing, negotiation, purchase order creation, and order tracking.
Source materials, spare parts, consumables, and services required for mining equipment maintenance and operational activities.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders in SAP/ERP systems.
Maintain optimal inventory levels in collaboration with the warehouse and planning teams.
Monitor and expedite outstanding orders to avoid stockouts or operational delays.
B. Supplier Management
Identify, assess, and qualify suppliers in accordance with Sandvik’s supplier compliance requirements.
Negotiate prices, delivery terms, and contractual conditions to achieve best value.
Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, reliability) and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Maintain a persistent drive to improve supplier relationships and secure long‑term, reliable supply partnerships.
C. Compliance & Governance
Enforce adherence to Sandvik’s Code of Conduct, procurement policies, ethical sourcing guidelines, and HSE standards.
Ensure all procurement files, contracts, and documentation comply with audit, finance, and ISO requirements.
Contribute to risk mitigation by identifying supply chain vulnerabilities and proposing preventive measures.
D. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
Identify cost‑saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, improved negotiation, and supplier consolidation.
Participate in procurement improvement projects, including digitalisation, automation, and process optimisation.
Conduct market analysis to maintain awareness of pricing trends and new supplier opportunities.
E. Internal Collaboration
Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Finance, Warehouse, SHEQ, and Global Procurement teams.
Support end‑users with procurement planning and specification reviews.
Provide regular procurement status updates and reports to management.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in mining, heavy industry, or manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of international and local procurement regulations.
Experience using SAP, ERP, or similar procurement systems.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Teams, Word).

Understanding of mining equipment, parts, and technical specifications (advantageous)
