Lead Hand Workshop Technician

We currently have an opening for a Lead Hand Workshop Technician at our Miramichi facility. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our growing workload by performing maintenance, repairs, inspections, and commissioning of equipment, while also providing leadership on-site in the absence of a supervisor. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with mentorship and task coordination to help ensure high-quality workmanship and efficient workflow.

What you will be doing

  • Perform standard maintenance, repairs, faultfinding, inspections, and commissioning of equipment and service projects.
  • Plan and prepare required tools, parts, and materials in accordance with work procedures.
  • Conduct pre‑delivery inspections, local modifications, complete safety bulletins and component repairs.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to ensure outside services are completed with quality workmanship
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve common equipment issues as first line‑ support.
  • Identify system components and carry out preventive and cost-efficient repairs.‑
  • Apply technical knowledge across hydraulics, mechanics, electrics, automation, pneumatics, and materials to solve standard customer problems.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation and maintenance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure documentation meets quality standards.
  • Occasionally collect technical feedback for the Sales Area and input data into internal systems.
  • Distribute daily work to technicians and guide them in safe and correct execution.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to Sandvik’s safety standards, procedures, and quality expectations.

What you will bring along

  • Experience as a Workshop or Maintenance Technician, ideally in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities across hydraulics, mechanics, electrical systems, and automation.
  • Ability to work independently in a workshop or field environment with a customer focused mindset.‑
  • Demonstrated leadership potential; able to guide, mentor, and quality check‑ work from junior staff.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and recommend effective solutions.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to standardized procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
