Key performance areas

As the Senior Service Technician – Contracts, you will carry out maintenance, repair, and inspection activities on Sandvik mining equipment using a variety of tools and techniques. This role is based in the workshop and at customer sites and works under the guidance of more senior service technicians while operating with limited supervision.

This position supports the continued scaling of Sandvik’s Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) technical capability and contributes to high-quality service delivery at customer operations.

Additionally, the Senior Service Technician will:

  • Repair and replace components by following technical manuals, service instructions, and established procedures

  • Interpret basic mechanical drawings and maintenance documentation to assemble, dismantle, align, and adjust equipment

  • Perform maintenance tasks independently and verify completed work to ensure proper equipment operation

  • Monitor operating equipment to identify potential issues or failures

  • Accurately report and document completed work in accordance with Sandvik procedures and work instructions

  • Communicate with customers at a basic level, including explaining standard operating procedures and escalating issues to appropriate personnel

  • Provide feedback to line managers or team leaders regarding service challenges and equipment performance

  • Offer limited guidance and support to Level 1 technicians and trainees

  • Ensure all work is performed using approved tools and in compliance with safety standards

  • Prepare and execute work in line with Sandvik SHEQ rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines

  • Promote safety awareness and proactively address or escalate safety-related anomalies

Your profile

You have hands-on experience servicing mechanical equipment in a mining, heavy equipment, or industrial environment and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a service team. You follow procedures closely, prioritize safety, and take pride in delivering high-quality work.

The Senior Service Technician will also possess:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow technical documentation

  • Experience performing maintenance and repair tasks with limited supervision

  • Basic troubleshooting and fault-identification skills

  • Clear verbal communication skills for customer and internal interactions

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Location & Work Details

  • Primary location: Elko, NV

  • Work arrangement: Workshop and customer site-based

  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

  • Shift: Rotating shifts

  • Employment type: Permanent
