Field Service Technician Underground

Job Summary

Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Field Service Technician Underground based in Balikpapan or on-site in Indonesia.

As a part of Indonesia strategic execution plan for UG business development, this position will be focusing on standard maintenance, faultfinding, repairing, inspecting, and commissioning service projects, taking customer and Sandvik framework and requirements into account. Customer focus in approach to execution, works unsupervised in workshop and/or at the customer site/field.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance and Servicing Equipment.

  • Plan for correct tools and parts required to perform tasks, according to all work procedures.

  • Commissioning of products that includes pre-delivery inspections and hot (operational and at customer site) commissioning.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and solve common problems, as a first line support.

  • Identify components, understand basic functionality, and conduct maintenance and repair work accordingly. This includes the provision of preventive and cost-efficient repairs.

  • Support the customer’s product / equipment / processes by suggesting possible improvements. (According to sales area requirements.)

  • Use knowledge and experience to solve standard problems for customers.

  • Understands system functionality and interactions of hydraulics / mechanics / electrics / automation / pneumatics / materials.

  • Complete maintenance reports for internal and external stakeholders e.g., report and document on maintenance and / or repairs completed. Obtain customer authorization to invoice.

  • Occasionally collect technical feedback in the Sales Area (input into Database).

  • Assign simple tasks to junior staff and guide them in their completion.

  • Coach customer technicians on basic servicing and maintenance principles.

  • Ensure that all routine work procedures (using the tools provided), are carried out according to safety standards.

  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and tidy and that tools and equipment are stored appropriately.

  • Commissioning of products (10% of the time spent), which includes pre-delivery inspections and hot (operational and at customer site) commissioning

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER BUSINESS LINE

  • Collaborate within the Sales Area (including territories/countries etc.) with supervisor, senior field service technicians, and peers.

  • Can be nominated for parts & service division training if identified as a high potential.

  • Give feedback based on challenges experienced in the field.

  • Participate in local equipment division training and comply with the requirements of a Sandvik Maintenance Technician.

  • Awareness of new product launches.

  • Understand how business or related KPIs impact their operational efficiency.

  • Identify and report any unsafe work behaviors/practices, hazards and incidents immediately.

PREFERRED ENVIRONMENT & MOBILITY

  • Assigned on one site or from site to site within country of Indonesia.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • > 6 years’ experience as service technician preferably in underground mining.

  • Has proficient experience and proven basic skills of Sandvik Equipment.

  • Basic knowledge in Sandvik’s underground-related equipment offering and application.

  • Basic English communication (verbal & written), along with high level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.
