The Role:
The purpose of the Senior Commercial Specialist role is to assist in minimizing contractual, commercial, and financial risks in business deals and thus protect the profitability of the business. The Senior Commercial Specialist ensures adherence to company policies and guidelines (legal, commercial, and compliance), safeguarding contractual integrity and mitigating legal, commercial, compliance & financial risks and involves the proactive management of contracts to protect Sandvik's interests as well as minimize/eliminate the potential for legal disputes emanating from customer contracts.
Key Performance Areas:
- Review customer contracts/terms and conditions and produce qualifications in conjunction with legal.
- Ensure that the customer-facing documents (including quotations/proposals and contracts) are developed in alignment between the Sales and the relevant product areas and in line with the Global processes.
- Ensure that the Contract Owner registers the customer-facing documents in the Contract Management System (contracts only) in a timely manner.
- Participate and guide stakeholders in customer negotiations
- Ensure that the customer-facing documents are drafted in line with all local and global policies and standards to ensure the lowest level of risk for Sandvik, and the highest quality of customer document
- Ensure that the Commercial Management Dashboard is up to date and there are no commercially non-compliant contracts and where there are, that the non-compliance is rectified.
- Manage sound business relationships with internal and external customers
- Ensure compliance with Commercial minimum requirements.
- Ensure contract owners and managers comply with commercial compliance requirements.
Your Profile:
- Bachelors Degree – BCom Law / LLB Law
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the mining or construction industry
- Background in Commercial, Legal, Supply Chain, or Finance will be beneficial
- Good demonstrable knowledge of commercial and clerical principles.
- Advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Salesforce (CRM) is an asset
- Experience working in a matrix environment will be advantageous
