Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. To our Rock Tools division and the R&D department at Patancheru, Hyderabad, we are now looking for an Engineer - Materials Lab to join us.
Job Purpose:
This job is Research and Development of Rock tools at Materials Engineering lab. The role will actively take part in R&D product development activities, Collaborate with global & local engineering projects teams. Support periodic product and process audits. The role will also co-ordinate and work together with product line function in understanding business requirements.
To be more specific, your main responsibilities to manage in this position are:
- Ensure Environment, Health and Safety standards are being practiced at the workplace specific to Materials / Metallurgical lab.
- Support EHS development activities and contribute to EHS culture development.
- Implement QEHSSA management systems in the working environment.
- Conduct research and development activities in Mining and Construction applications.
- Strong subject knowledge in materials, metallurgical methods & processes.
- Knowledge of metallurgical special processes like heat treatment, surface engineering, steel making and welding with failure analysis.
- Hands on experience in using metallography lab equipment for material characterization.
- Should be capable of concluding the results and sharing with stakeholders.
- Able to work independently on research projects.
- Ability to work with global engineering teams.
- Collaborate with global product development projects.
- Proficient communication skills to deal with internal and global functions.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Effective planning & implementation.
- Experience in Non-destructive testing of materials will be added advantage.
Your profile:
Metallurgical engineering graduate / postgraduate’s degree with 6 years of experience from an engineering industry. Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the core area. You have previously worked with strong EHS cultured organizations, and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.
Other required competencies that we find necessary are:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
