Training Engineer
The Underground Drilling division within Business area Mining is an industry leading global provider of drilling equipment for underground mining and tunneling industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.

If you answered yes, our Training Engineer role might be just the right one for you. The role is full-time, permanent and based in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.
Your mission
As a Training Engineer your mission is to help upskill our and our customers’ technicians’ and drill rig operators’ capabilities through professional technical trainings. You plan, design and deliver trainings to technicians and drill rig operators around the world using blended learning methods. Your tasks include creating training material and developing digital training offering in the forms of training simulators, e-learnings and training videos. In addition, you are solving our customers’ and sales areas’ technical issues.
Your main responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, structured technical training on Sandvik equipment in both classroom and hands-on environments.
- Translate fundamental to complex mechanical, drilling and electrical concepts into clear, practical instruction for technicians at varying skill levels.
- Ensure training content aligns with real-world machine configurations, updates, and field conditions.
- Maintain current knowledge of equipment changes, common failures, and location-specific needs.
- Maintain accurate training documentation, including attendance, test results, competency evaluations, and follow-up actions.
- Provide constructive, actionable feedback to support technician development.
- Involve in training material improvements through analysis and feedback.
- Collaborate internally on new training solutions, course development, and special projects.
- Actively use simulators in classroom trainings and for demonstrations to different stakeholders.
- Interest in deepening knowledge in BEVs.
- Model safe work practices, professionalism, and high technical standards at all times.
- Communicate training expectations clearly, including PPE requirements, equipment needs, and daily schedules to plan trainings.
Your background and what we find important
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering (preferably in automation, electrics, or mining technology).
- Knowledge on CANBUS and protocols.
- Mind-set for continuous improvement.
- Excellent social and collaboration skills with ability to transfer knowledge to others.
- Experience with underground drilling equipment or training simulators is a plus.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel as needed.
- Fluent in English; other languages are a bonus.
