About the Role
Based at our Heatherbrae site and reporting to the Machine Shop & Toolroom Team Leader, this hands-on role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on production uptime and quality.
You’ll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes and 5-axis milling machines, supporting both planned maintenance and urgent breakdowns. Your precision, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety will be key to delivering high-quality machining and toolmaking services.
This role is perfect for a trade-qualified machinist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Roster
Mon - Thurs (4 day week)
5am - 3pm (9.5 hour shifts)
Key responsibilities include:
- Primary Purpose: Responsible for planned and reactive machining tasks, prioritising breakdowns to maximise production uptime. Operates CNC lathe and 5-axis milling machines to produce high-quality parts.
- Workplace Safety: Must comply with all EH&S policies, conduct Job Safety Observations, report incidents, and actively identify and address hazards.
- Machining Duties: Perform safe and efficient machining from drawings or samples, complete QA documentation, and ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Planning & Reporting: Review weekly plans, escalate issues affecting timelines, and complete work orders and shift reports in the MEX (Maintenance Management System).
- Leadership & Teamwork: Promote continuous improvement, model compliance and work ethic, and contribute to developing standard work practices.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections, execute rework, and participate in investigations of quality incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Key Relationships: Collaborates with Team Leaders, Maintenance Planners, and Coordinators; reports directly to the Machine Shop & Toolroom Team Leader.
About You
You are a trade-qualified CNC machinist with hands-on experience operating CNC lathes and 5-axis milling machines in a manufacturing environment. You are safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to meet production targets. Strong communication skills, a commitment to quality, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement are essential.
